Safe Water Installation
Pressure testing, temperature control and approved products
Plumbing is not finished when it powers on. The documented pressure, tightness and temperature checks, and the rule that every pipe and component is a tested, approved system.
An installation is not done when the water flows — it is done when it has been tested, documented, and built from approved products. This is the verification end of Säker Vatten.
Pressure and tightness testing
Pipe installations are pressure- and tightness-checked before being put into service, and the checks are documented. Press-fitted pipes can get a special integrity check designed so an unpressed (incorrectly made) fitting will leak and reveal itself. Changes to existing tap-water or heating installations are tightness-checked at the system's existing pressure. Wastewater lines are checked by flushing and visual inspection.
Temperature control
Once the hot-water-circulation system is complete, temperatures are checked and recorded: at least 60 °C in water heaters and accumulators; a safety function heating the tank at least weekly where a heat pump runs cooler; 55–60 °C on hot-water output to the installation; at least 50 °C in the circulation return and in every circuit; and at most 38 °C at outlets with special accident risk.
Approved products and systems
Tap-water, wastewater and heating installations must be built with pipes and components tested and approved as systems — documented in the supplier's installation instructions — not assembled from mismatched parts. Key product rules include:
- Type approval or equivalent third-party certification showing the product meets BBR and the standard;
- pipe-in-pipe conduits tested to Sintef's method, and exchangeable systems to NT VVS 129;
- near-wall and wall drains approved only together with a specific waterproofing system;
- brass parts in contact with water made of dezincification-resistant material;
- calibrated tools and test instruments where the supplier requires it.
Products carry markings so the installed system is identifiable and verifiable later.
