Technical construction conditions: the building work safe water depends on

A Säker Vatten installation doesn't stand alone. For the plumbing to be safe, parts of the building around it must be built correctly — and that work is usually done by other trades (builders, waterproofers), not the plumber. Säker Vatten calls these the Technical Construction Conditions and describes them so nothing critical falls between trades.

What they cover

The technical construction conditions are the building-side works a safe water installation relies on, including:

• Reinforcing walls and structures that fixtures and pipes attach to, so fixings stay solid.
• The design of shafts and shaft bottoms, and service hatches.
• Spaces for concealed flush cisterns with their sealing layers.
• Waterproofing in recesses and installation shafts.

Specific details matter: shaft and enclosure walls are made watertight to at least 50 mm above a level bottom shaped so any leak runs to the leak indicator; holes for pipes have no more than a 2 mm gap, with coordination of who makes them; and vent lines are sealed to the roof's waterproofing.

Why coordination is everything

Because this work is done by others — and sometimes *after* the plumber has finished — the plumber often can't verify it. So coordination between trades, agreed early, is essential. If the plumber does spot a deviation from what's required, they must notify the client. These conditions aren't part of the Säker Vatten certificate itself, but the installation isn't truly safe without them.
