An MVK-approved painted wet-room system has a technical service life of at least 10 years — but that number comes with a condition: the surface has to be looked after. The care is simple, and it's the difference between a decade of service and an early failure.
Cleaning
Walls need regular cleaning to remove limescale, soap residue and similar — especially in exposed spots like the shower and around and under the bath and basin. Lift bath fronts so the floor and walls behind them stay accessible, and use a lime-dissolving cleaner and a soft brush as needed. Left to build up, deposits attack the finish.
Ventilation
The wet room's ventilation must be kept up to Boverket's standard so humidity stays low and mould can't take hold. Good extraction after every shower is doing quiet, constant work to protect the surface.
Seals
Check that the seals around penetrations and holes stay intact, and seal any new hole immediately — a shelf drilled in years later is a fresh entry point for water if it isn't sealed. And after the original work, the recommended drying times must pass before the surface is exposed to water.

At completion you receive the quality document (the self-check) and care advice, so you know exactly how the room was built and how to keep it performing for its full life.
